“Strength made me who I am, but love and family are what define me.”
My name is Alexander Walker, though most people know me as Alika, a name I share with my father, who has been one of the most influential figures in my life. I was born on May 10, 2000, and raised on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi, primarily in Mililani and Wahiawā. As the youngest of four siblings, I grew up in a household where family was not only important, it was everything.
My upbringing was shaped by strong role models. I looked up to both my father and my older brother, who helped guide me into manhood through their strength, discipline, and example. At the same time, my mother instilled in me the values of kindness, respect, and compassion, qualities that I carry with me in every aspect of my life. Together, they shaped me into someone who is not only strong, but also grounded and respectful.
Family remains the foundation of who I am. To me, family goes beyond blood, it includes anyone I hold close and care deeply about. If I consider someone family, I am loyal to them without question. I am naturally protective and take pride in being someone others can rely on.
My early years were not without challenges. From elementary through middle school, I experienced bullying, which tested my confidence and resilience. However, those experiences shaped my character in a meaningful way. By the time I reached high school, I had developed a strong sense of responsibility to stand up for others who could not defend themselves. I often took it upon myself to confront bullies, driven by a desire to protect and support those who felt powerless. Those experiences taught me that true strength is not just about standing your ground, it is about standing up for others.
Sports have been a constant throughout my life and played a major role in my development. Beginning at the age of five, I participated in a wide range of athletics, including basketball, soccer, and cross country in my early years, followed by flag football, tackle football, wrestling, and track and field in high school, where I specialized in discus and shot put. After graduating, I had the opportunity to give back by coaching in shot put and discus, which allowed me to mentor others and share my knowledge and passion.
I take pride in both my personal growth and my ability to give back. One of my most memorable milestones was purchasing my first car. At the time, I had very little to my name, but I took a leap of faith and visited a used car dealership. When I drove off the lot, I remember the moment truly sinking in, I had made one of my first major decisions as an adult, and it was a defining moment of independence and self-belief. Another moment I hold close is being able to provide for my parents by purchasing a three-seater recliner and a loveseat. Being able to give back to them, even in a small way, meant everything to me and reflected the gratitude I carry for all they have done.
As a person, I consider myself open, honest, and easygoing. I value authenticity and believe in speaking truthfully, even if it means being direct at times. While I can be reserved initially, I become much more outgoing once I am comfortable. Above all, I strive to be someone who is supportive, caring, and dependable. Growing up, I often felt like I did not have an outlet to express my emotions, which is why I make it a priority to be there for others. I want people to feel heard, supported, and understood, especially during times when they may feel alone.
Currently, I work as a warehouse professional, continuing to build my path forward. My long-term goals are centered around achieving financial stability and creating a life where not only I, but also my loved ones, can thrive. Success to me is not measured solely by personal gain, but by the well-being and growth of the people around me.
Outside of work, I have developed a strong passion for mixed martial arts. I actively train in boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, Jiu-Jitsu, and wrestling. These disciplines challenge me physically and mentally, while reinforcing the values of discipline, perseverance, and continuous self-improvement.
My journey is still unfolding, but everything I have experienced, both the challenges and the successes, has shaped me into who I am today. I remain committed to growth, to family, and to being a source of strength and support for those around me.
